How I Brush My One Year Old's Teeth

I was hesitant at first because I'm not yet sure if I'm going to transition her toothbrush to a normal toothbrush, even when she really has a lot of teeth for her age already.

But yes, we did. I'm afraid of cavities and whatnots that could cause her teeth to weaken, so yeah.

At first it was still easy, I guess because it was new for her and she doesn't really know what it's for, or how it works, so it was pretty easy to brush her teeth. She would even hold her own toothbrush and somehow brush her teeth. I was so happy! I was like "OMG my little girl loves brushing her teeth! Why do they say it's hard to brush a toddler's teeth?".

A couple of days after, I don't know what happened, but Maco doesn't like to brush her teeth anymore! I was confused. Was it the toothpaste? The toothbrush? Was I too hard? I'm not sure.

A few days passed that sometimes I wasn't able to brush her teeth properly or that the toothbrush would be inside her mouth for only 10 seconds and she quit, like "no mother, not that thing again! no! no! no!". Lol! And I already tried to brush with her, but that didn't really happen, I ended up brushing my own teeth alone! And she ended up crying.

I noticed one time though that she would stay put when we let her watch a video on Youtube. And so that's what I did, I let her watch a video on Youtube so I could brush her teeth. I don't really let her watch videos on Youtube or be near a gadget when we're at home, I wouldn't want her to get used to using gadgets, I just don't think it would be good for her as she's still too young for it.

So this is our routine on brushing her teeth
(this usually happens on the afternoon and at night time right after her bath)
(yes, I bathe her twice a day! It's just too hot here in the Philippines!)

I clean her toothbrush with hot water. Don't worry, when I use it on her it's cooled off already!

I let her sit on my lap and use my phone so she could watch Youtube videos. I let her watch this 'This is the way to Brush Your Teeth' song when I brush her teeth.

Sorry for the blurry photo! Hehe

I'll just do the same what the little boy on video was doing. Yes, I'd say 'first, take your toothbrush' 'put a little amount of toothpaste' and then I'd sing along with the video. Kabisado ko na yung kanta talaga!

I brush her teeth until the video's done, sometimes I even let her brush her own teeth. And we're done! I let her watch for a couple more minutes after I'm done brushing her teeth though, because that's the only time I let her watch Youtube videos. Heehee! And she enjoys watching nursery rhymes!

Anyway, I'm not sure if this would work on your child as it did on my little one, but trying wouldn't hurt,  would it? Or if you don't have problems brushing your child/ren's teeth, well then, good for you! :)

Food Review: Kuya J Restaurant in Waltermart, Makati

It was not I was expecting it was, actually. Honestly, I was expecting a fast food vibe! Heehee! The reason I was expecting it would be something of a fast food restaurant was because of it's commercial. Hehehe

The place was pretty packed when we got there, so my expectations were high.

The Sour-Savory Goodness of the new AJI-SINIGANG® Cube

Sinigang Soup is a ‘must’ in most Pinoy households’ weekly menu. The whole family enjoys a bowl of warm and refreshing Sinigang dish in hot or cold weather conditions. It has been observed though that most people using sinigang mixes available in the market would need to add other savory and meaty seasonings i.e. pork cube and all-in-one seasonings to achieve the ideal sinigang taste, which is not just about sourness but savory taste as well.

The new Ajinomoto® Sinigang Cube is all that you will ever need to cook Sinigang with the preferred blend of sour-savory (asim-linamnam) taste. It is perfect in providing the balanced rich, savory deliciousness and appetizing sourness to any sinigang dish. Each cube is “ZoopSiksik™” because it is packed with the right level of tamarind sourness and savory taste from meaty extracts.

AJI-SINIGANG® Cube is available in single 13g pillow pack cube for P5.00 and 8 pieces of 13g packed in re-sealable stand-up pouch for P38.00.

Food Review: Wild West Roadhouse Grill in BGC

My sister-in-law had a take out from Wild West Roadhouse one time, and husband and I loved the nachos which I seriously thought was a nachos flavored pizza. Lol!

I love nachos and pizza, so I thought it was such a perfect combination! Unfortunately though it was not a nachos flavored pizza, so let's move on.

I look so much of a mother. Lol! But yes, hello, I'm a mom, so kebs! HAHAHA! BTW, we were with my SIL here, she just went to the restroom at the time
We've dined in there for a couple of times already, and I must say the staff was really accommodating and are really nice to children! They give children twisted balloons! Love it! Not all restaurants does that these days so as a mother, of course I'm really touched by that sweet gesture. ;) And oh, they also give you peanuts to snack on while you wait for your food.

I'm so sorry I forgot what's this called and it's price :(
Speaking of food, I think it's good (well that rhymes!) , as what I've said, my favorite is their nachos. I like that the cheeses are melted on every nacho chip! The downside though is that you only have less than 15 nacho chips! But the good thing is, their nacho chips are big! But still, I think it's not enough for me! And yes, I love that they have real jalapeno on each chip! The dips were nothing special though. They were just the typical dips you would encounter at a Tex-Mex resto.

Wild West Quesadillas | P300+

I also got to taste their Chicken Quesadillas, man was it big! I was able to eat one slice only and I was full! Well, of course with the help of nachos and my lemon juice. I love that hindi tinipid yung chicken huh! Chunks of chicken talaga. It has the same dips with the nachos.

Those burger and fries are from the kids' menu, it was nothing special. Their burgers for 'adults' were good though (not in picture)
I also love the Crispy Pork Bacon! Hmmm-mmm... Super crunchy! IDK how they did that to their bacon, but I want to know! Haha! And I never thought dipping bacon in vinegar would be soooo good! Unfortunately I don't have a photo of it. Huhuhu :(

If ever you're going to dine in Wild West Roadhouse Grill, I strongly recommend the Crispy Pork Bacon and the nachos in picture! Super yummy! ;9

Keep Calm and Play with Your Toddler

When Maco turned 1 year old, I was so happy as I can't wait to have a mother-daughter bond with her. Like this on the photo below...

True! Photo from Facebook
But wait, I think I totally forgot about the toddler phase.

The toddler phase meaning the super hyper stage. Yes, my little girl's like that! She would try to go up the stairs, up the sofa's armrest, would always go out, and even spank our dog, Max, and everything else you could imagine! They would often say that good thing she's a girl because if I had a son, it would be twice of Maco's energy or kakulitan. Uhh-okay. Well, as what I always say, she's just a curious little girl that would want to explore anything and everything!

There was a day I was so exhausted I put it out on my husband. And he was clueless as to why I was mad at him. But, of course I explained it to him afterwards. There was even a time I cried because I was so frustrated with my little girl. Some work and chores has to be done but I can't even start with it because she cries, and would even get all the things I'm using so I wouldn't start. Yes, I'm a stay-at-home mom, but I "work", I have an online clothing business for little girls, and some other little works, though this one is something I'm just starting with so I can't really tell much about it. And I'm also not yet 100% sure about it, so... Anyway... I also blog every now and then.

Sometimes I feel guilty because I know that my 1 year old wants me to play with her. But I also need to do my work and some chores.

Good thing, I always remember something I've read from somewhere that all of it can wait, but my child. And so, that's what I do. And as what the Chuckie commercial says, 'minsan lang sila maging bata, sabayan mo na', that TVC made me cry buckets! Oo nga naman 'di ba?!

Whenever I'm on this laptop doing some work and my little girl tries to sit on my lap, I pause, I play with her even for just a couple of minutes. I think on that simple way I make my little girl happy and feels that she has all of my attention.

Not all the time I'm like that though, I'm no perfect mother and I get frustrated also (and yes, all the time haha) as I wanted to finish my work early so I could relax and play with her right after. But of course, she doesn't understand that, and so she always, always bug me whenever I'm in front of the laptop. I guess the little girl wants all of her Mama's attention, and so as much as I can, that's what I do. I only get to do the things I'm supposed to do for the day when she's asleep. Or if she's busy with her toys. Or if she's busy pulling out all of her baby wipes. Haha

I'm not telling other mothers out there to do the same because I'm pretty sure you do much more work than I do, but all I'm saying is, if your child wants your attention I guess it means that he/she feels that you're not giving him/her enough. So I think a couple of hours of playtime would not hurt, and to really listen to his/her stories, listening to their stories means a lot to them. It meant a lot to me when I was younger, and I guess to you, too, so.

I'm just saying. :)

I'm a Maarte Mom

Everywhere I go I always, always, always make sure I bring our trusty alcohol with us! Not just now that I have a baby, but even before I have Maco, and even before I was pregnant! I just can't take the thought of germs living in my hands, and eating without sanitizing my hands first. You might say, don't restaurants/fastfood have sink so you could wash your hands there? Yes, they do. But wait, how many people have touched that door handle before you could open the restroom so you could go out? And are you 100% sure that that liquid soap inside that dispenser is clean? And speaking of that liquid soap dispenser, it's filthy. So yeah, I'm a freak in that way. And yes, I'm maarte like that. Even when I just go to the nearby palengke, I bring a small bottle! Hahaha!

Sometimes, I feel like I'm offending other people because I spray too much hand sanitizer on my hands. I really am sorry to the people that felt I offended them, seriously I'm trying to offend you. It's just that... Do I need to explain again? Anyway...
